Summer Reach Ahead (Current Gr8s)
Public registration for Summer Reach Ahead 2024 will open April 1, 2024.
Our Summer Reach Ahead programs provide an opportunity for students to take their compulsory Civics and Careers or specific Technological Education (credit) courses in the summer before they start Grade 9.
Civics and Careers courses are offered on-line using “the HUB”. Teachers will book on-line “Office Hours” one hour each day on MS Teams. These half credit courses are equivalent to 55 hours of in-class time each.
NEW FOR 2024 – For students entering grade 9 in September 2024, a grade 9 or 10 Technological Education course will be a graduation requirement. Students can fulfil that requirement, and complete an in-person course in the summer before grade 9 with our new Reach Ahead Technological Education program.
Program Dates: July 3 to 15, 2024 (Civics), July 16 to 26, 2024 (Careers), July 3 to 26, 2024 (Exploring Construction Technology and Exploring Hairstyling and Aesthetics – IN-PERSON COURSES)
Locations: Civics and Careers courses are FULLY ON-LINE. Exploring Construction Technology and Exploring Hairstyling and Aesthetics are In-Person at Bernie Custis and Nora F. Henderson Secondary Schools.
***NOTE***IF attending Saltfleet in September and families are choosing one of the technology credits above, and they have chosen the grade 9 TAS1O1 technology credit and want to make a change, please email Ms. Susi at [email protected] indicating that you want to drop TAS1O1 and add whichever credit the student wants as an elective preferably by April 10th.
