Summer School Reach Ahead for Grade 8 Students

Registration for the July 2025 Reach Ahead program is now open!

Summer Reach Ahead programs provide an opportunity for students to take compulsory Civics and Careers or specific Technological Education (credit) courses in the summer before starting Grade 9.

Civics and Careers courses are offered online, in self-guided modules, using the HUB.  Teachers will be available during their “office hours” one hour each day on MS Teams.  These half credit courses are equivalent to 55 hours of in-class time each.

NEW ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT STARTING THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR – Students entering Grade 9 on or after September 2024 will be required to complete a grade 9 or 10 Technological Education course to graduate.  Students have the option of completing this requirement by attending the Summer Reach Ahead program.  This program is offered in-person and can be attended during the summer before grade 9 or the summer before grade 10.  Students can alternatively choose to complete this requirement during the regular school year.

The COURSE SELECTION is open in myBlueprint from January 7 – 29, 2025 and again from April 1 – June 9, 2025, 9:00 a.m.

For help registering, or for more information, please go to CE’s website at: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/cce/summer/reach-ahead/
