Reorganization

September 2015 Reorg Letter

September 25, 2015

Dear Earl Kitchener Parents/Guardians:

As a result of the changes that have taken place between June and September in our school’s enrolment and in order to comply with the Ministry’s Class Size Reduction Strategy, there have been some modifications to our classroom organizations for this school year.

We are unfortunately losing our small Kindergarten class of 15 students. Those students will be redistributed into our other four Kindergarten classes. This also gives us a surplus teacher and therefore we are sad to say good-bye to Kristen Nickafor as she moves onto another school. The Kindergarten teams will continue to be the same with Mrs. Karoles now joining Ms. Dore and becoming the new team for those children.

In general, on a board-wide basis, primary classes must have 20 or fewer students and combined 3/4 classes, up to 23 students. This affects our English stream classes. Therefore, we have to move some children to make sure that the class numbers comply with the Ministry standards.

If any of these class moves affects your child, then you will be receiving a personal call from the Administration of the school. These classroom changes will be happening on Friday October 2nd 2015.

We apologize in advance for the short term upset this may cause some students.

We look forward to an excellent year and thank you for your patience.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Richelle Bratuz                  JoAnne AuCoin

Principal                               Vice-Principal

Friendly Reminder

Just a friendly reminder to please be aware of students in and around the school yard and ensure there is a clear path to and from the school. It is also imperative to be respectful of surrounding neighbours by ensuring we do not block the sidewalks or driveways. Students (other than kindergarten), if you don’t have to use the Stanley gate, then kindly use the Homewood gate. Your full cooperation is greatly appreciated by all.

Student Information Verification Forms

The “Student Information Verification” forms will be distributed to each student within the next day or two. Kindly review the ENTIRE form, make any necessary changes, SIGN AND DATE the form, and return it to the school (whether or not there are any changes needed). Each form must be returned as soon as possible to ensure all of our information is correct. We thank you, in advance.

Birthday Cupcakes

A long-standing tradition at Earl Kitchener School is a birthday cupcake day with the Principal.  Children with birthdays within each month are invited to enjoy cupcakes with the Principal, Mrs. Bratuz, usually on the last Monday of each month.  This is a wonderful way for our principal to get to know the children better, and for each child to get to know her as well.  If you would like to volunteer to bake two (2) dozen white cupcakes or two (2) dozen chocolate cupcakes, iced and simply decorated (please remember – no nuts!), please contact Carol Nicholson at [email protected] or at (905) 536-0325. The first date for Birthday Cupcakes is scheduled for Monday, September 28th.
