This Week’s Nutrition Program

Adjustments are made for children with allergies.

The week of June 15th will be the last official week of the Nutrition Program.  So, you have one more chance to volunteer and see how this machine works!  Click here to volunteer for the week of the 15th:  https://ekhomeandschool.bringit.bz/public/5a3ac3

Since we are winding down for the year, the menu will be decided once we know what we have on hand after this Thursday’s nutrition program.  Different classes may get different items so the kids can enjoy a surprise!

Playground Appreciation

Thank you to all parents for your cooperation and patience as we implement the new playground changes!  We have had positive feedback come from parents, staff, and students that was shared at the School Council meeting on Tuesday, June 9th.   June 1st was the implementation date of the playground changes and staff will continue to review how things are going throughout the month of June.

Cash Online

Effective September 2015, there will be a new option for paying for school items and events such as agendas, school trips, spirit wear, etc.  Please keep your eyes open for the yellow form (which should be sent home by the end of this week) to sign up now.

Farewell Assembly

Grade 5 Parents / Guardians are invited to join us for our Grade 5 Celebration Assembly on Tuesday, June 23rd at 9:15 a.m. in the Earl Kitchener Gym.  A reception will follow on the school front lawn (or library should the weather not cooperate).  Grade 5 parents are asked to drop off treats (no nuts please) on their way to the gym for the reception.  (Please Note:  We ask that each Grade 5 student only brings four (4) guests as per fire regulations.)

Hello Grade 4 families!

We need your help!  It has been a tradition at Earl Kitchener that every year the Grade 4 parents provide support at the celebration following the Farewell Assembly for our Grade 5 students.  Grade 5 parents provide the food; Grade 4 parents help receive the food, set up tables, decorate, and clean up.  This year, our Farewell Assembly will take place on Tuesday, June 23rd.  A list of ways you can help can be found by visiting https://gradstuffsignup.bringit.bz/public/9ddf49  Please use this link to sign up for jobs.  Please contact Mrs Turk at the school with any questions.  Looking forward to seeing you on the 23!

Max’s Big Ride

One of Earl Kitchener’s JK students, Max, is getting ready to embark on a bike ride with his father from Ottawa to Hamilton…that’s 600 km!  Max’s Big Ride is an effort to raise money for research into a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).  Max was diagnosed with DMD two years ago.  Max’s entire class is excited to support his ride by donning Max’s Big Ride T-shirts.  If you would like to see how you can support Max’s ride and DMD research, please visit: https://www.maxsbigride.com/.  The family has asked us to not discuss Max’s illness with him (or our children if we feel they are not old enough to refrain from mentioning it to him) but instead to focus on the bike ride.  He is only four (4) years old and does not know about his illness so please be sensitive to this.

Have a wonderful night!
