Nutrition Program

We wanted to update you about our Nutrition Program which recently began in the week before March Break and will continue as follows:

* Tuesday’s and Thursday’s;

* Three (3) food groups including fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and grain;

* Menu will be posted on the school’s website; and

* Alternate food items will be provided for students with allergies to certain food groups.

Please note that the Program is voluntary (mandatory participation is not required) so, as a family, you can decide whether you wish to modify your child’s packed lunches on these days. Part of our objective as a school is to impart to students the value of having healthy snacks, selecting appropriate portion sizes, as well as an opportunity to try new foods. Kindly let us know if you may have any questions or inquiries for clarification.

Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive

Once again, the Kirkendall Neighbourhood Food Drive is coming up on Saturday, May 2nd and they are looking for our help.  To support the food drive, Earl Kitchener will be holding a mini food drive within the next two weeks.  As a result, a couple of Mission Services food barrels will be placed at the school where food donations can be dropped off.  At the end of our mini food drive, Mission Services will come and pick up the barrels, weigh them, and let us know how many pounds of food were collected by Earl Kitchener.  Your food donation would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great week!
