Greetings Dundas Central Community

Hello Dundas Central Families:

A few updates as we move into the beautiful fall week end.

We hope you are doing well.

  1.  A reminder that Monday, October 25th is school picture day.  A smile is all that is needed.  Please review the poster recently posted to our school website from Edge Imaging.  A date for Grade 8 Graduation photos will be communicated soon.  Picture retake day is November 30th.
  2. Fundraising – Thanks to our School Council for our recent fundraisers including School Spirit Wear and Mabel’s Labels.  Next week our School Council will be generating ideas for our Annual Fundraising Plan.  Please consider participating in our School Council Meeting next Thursday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m.  You can access the meeting on the School Council Page of our Website.
  3. Extra Curriculars – So much is happening at DC right now .  Primary, Junior/Senior Choir, Junior/Intermediate Boys and Girls Volleyball, and Grade 7 & 8 Yoga classes.  Our school recently participated in the Grade 6,7 & 8 Cross Country meet at Christies Conservation area.  Thank you to parent volunteers who continue to drive our students to and from events.  We are in need of volunteer drivers.  Required  are a vulnerable sector screen, application form, and proof of full immunization.  Please call the school for more information.  Mrs. Mcguire is happy to help.
  4. Outdoor Learning Spaces – Thank you Bienstock Group for recent improvements to our outdoor spaces.  An “out class” of tables and seats, wacky posts, sand replenishment, repair to our bridge and resecurring our log border have been completed.  Fundraising money through School Council and the Home and School Association supported these improvements.
  5.  We are pleased that the HWDSB has released a new dress code for all schools.  This was communicated to all families in our Board.  Thank you for taking the time to review the dress code with your child/children.
  6. Please continue to access the main HWDSB website for opportunities to be involved, and to share your voice.  There are a number of committees who seek parent input as well as a number of learning sessions for families offered on a regular basis in our Board.
  7. Progress Reports will be carried home on November 19th.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher regarding progress reports anytime.
  8. Halloween Events will occur on Friday, October 29th.  Please refer to the recent post on our website outlining HWDSB public health and safety requirements for school celebrations.

Please reach out anytime.

Have a good week end ahead.
