Year End Activities at Dundana

Yesterday, our Director of Education and Chair of the Board shared this message to families about year end plans:  https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/blog/letter-to-families-on-end-of-year-remote-learning/

June 21 to 25

All of our classes at Dundana will run virtually, as they have been since mid April, for the entire week of June 21 to 25th.

On June 25th, each class will have an opportunity to have some virtual celebrations on MS Teams with their classmates during the school day.  Specifics about the timing or events of each of these celebrations will be shared by the classroom teacher before June 25th with students and families.  This will be the final day of synchronous, online learning for students for the school year.

By June 25th, teachers will also share plans with students and families for asynchronous assignments that can be done independently by students on June 28th and June 29th.

June 28 – 29

There will be no synchronous meetings for students planned with educators for June 28th or June 29th. Instead, we will be using these days to collect iPads that have been loaned out for student use during remote learning.  As well, families will have an opportunity on one of these two days to pick up any student items that still remain at the school.  Information about the schedule of drop off/pick up times will be shared on the Dundana website on Monday, June 21st.

It is essential that all school devices, cords, charging blocks and SEA devices are returned to the school by June 29th.  If your family currently has any of these devices but will not be available on June 28th or 29th, please email [email protected] to make arrangements to return it to the school during the school day June 21st to 25th.

Please note that while early drop off of devices can be accommodated next week, pick up of student materials cannot.  They can only be picked up June 28th or 29th.

Report Cards and Class Placements for 2021-2022

Report cards (grades 1-5) and Communications of Learning (JK/SK) will be shared with families via School Messenger email beginning Thursday, June 24th.  For Dundana’s returning students, we will be putting information about the student’s assigned class for September on the report.  Please note that the report will not include staff names for next year.  Staffing will not be completed until the summer.  Instead, please watch the Dundana website for a listing of assigned staff throughout the summer.

We anticipate that our school will likely have to go through re-organization of students, classes and/or staff at the end of September.  Please note that your child’s September placement may change because of that re-organization, and that information will be shared in late September.  No changes will be made to the class placements of currently placed students at this time and requests for changes will not be taken at this time.  Our educators will do everything they can in September to build a sense of community and help students find connections with their peers.  And, if re-organized, they will do that again in October.

If you have any questions or need more information about class specific events or activities, please contact your child’s teacher. An update, including scheduling information for June 28th and 29th, will be shared on this website on Monday, June 21st.

Updated on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
