Welcome Back Cootes Chargers to 2022-2023!

Hello Cootes Families!

We are so very excited to greet you this Tuesday and to welcome our many new families joining us.  We thought we would share some important information to help with organization on Tuesday morning:

Start and end time:

Our start time remains unchanged from last year.  The morning entry bell will ring at 9:15am.  Supervision in the morning begins at 9am.  We ask that no students arrive to school prior to 9am in order to ensure their safety.

Our day ends at 3:35pm and supervision ends at 3:50pm.  Please be sure to meet your child by this time.  Students in FDK-grade 3 will only be released to a designated adult.

Morning Entry on Tuesday September 6th (Grade 1 – 5 ONLY):

On Tuesday morning, families of students in grade 1 – 5 should make their way to the back playground where they will see pylons.  The pylons will have the name of your child’s teacher and the room number.  Please have your child line at by their designated pylon.  This is the same area where you will meet your child afterschool.  At the sound of the morning bell, your child’s teacher will come to meet and escort the entire class indoors.  No student should be entering the building or coming to through the front doors of the building prior to 9:15am.  The meeting area for your child will be labelled as follows:

Knowing your child’s teacher:

The name of your child’s teacher is available in the parent portal.  In some cases, this information does not appear.  If this is the class, we ask families to locate a staff member wearing an orange vest and holding a clipboard.  The staff member will be able to support your in identifying your child’s line area.

FDK Students & Families: Start date Wednesday

A reminder to families that all FDK students will begin full day learning on Wednesday.

JK & NEW to Cootes SK students Class Visits: Tuesday

Tuesday has been reserved for JK visits and SK students new to Cootes.  Classroom teachers have been in direct contact with families to share times.

NOTE: We have had a high number of families who have just recently registered or transferred from Remote Learning.  As a result, you may not have been contacted .  If you have a JK student or a NEW to Cootes SK student and have not been contacted, please come to the FDK playground on Wednesday morning between 9-9:15am.  Staff will ensure that you are directed to the correct class.

NEW Registrations:

If you are a new family who has not yet registered, please come directly to the front of the school to meet with our Office Administrators.  They will provide you with next steps.

We recognize that the first few days will be filled with tender excitement and gentle chaos.  The school continues to process a high number of recent registrations and are working hard to process these as quickly as possible.  We thank you in advance for your patience as we work diligently to ensure a smooth start-up.
