June Farewells: Closing out year end information

As we head into the final day of this school year, let us take this time to reflect as a community on all we have accomplished and the many people we have to thank.

Thank you to:

  • Our Trustee Ms Wong and Superintendent Smith for their support throughout the school year.
  • The parents and caregivers of Cootes Paradise for their ongoing support and assistance, especially during remote learning.
  • Our Home and School, School Council and volunteers for their dedication and commitment to our school community.
  • Ms Steele, Ms. Stableford & Mrs Stoneman for all their help and constant support.
  • Our custodians for keeping our school and the yard safe and clean for all of our students.
  • All of our wonderful teachers, EA’s and DECE’s for making a difference in the lives of their students
  • All our Cootes Paradise students who always put so much into everything they do and set out to accomplish their goals!

What Class Will My Child Be in?  Accessing Class Placements

Class building continues as we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year.  A reminder that your child’s class assignment will be shared the week before school begins (August 29, 2022) via the Parent Portal.  Families may also call the school during this week for information.

Call to Families:  School Council Representatives Needed

Please consider being a part of next year’s School Council! Parent involvement is one of the most significant factors contributing to a child’s success in school. The advantages of becoming a school council member include; being an important partner in the education system, contributing to the shared goal of improving student achievement, having a vehicle through which to express opinions, being informed about what is happening at the school and the board and at the provincial level of education. Participating on the school council can truly be a rewarding experience for all! Elections will be held in September 2022 for the following executive positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer & Community Representative. We hope to see you there!

Kindergarten Registration is well underway!

Only parents or legal guardians can register their children for school. The following documents are required:

  • Proof of age (child’s birth certificate or passport);
  • Proof of address (identification that shows parent/guardian’s current home address);
  • Proof of immunization;
  • Verification of date of arrival/immigration documents (if the child was not born in Canada).
  • Completed Student Registration Form – available online at www.hwdsb.on.ca/kindergarten

Are You Moving? We Are Closed to Out-of-Catchment!

To help us with our planning for the September 2022-2023 school year, it would be appreciated if you could notify us if you will be moving from our area between now and September. Please note that you will have to register your children at the home school. We cannot accept Out-of-Catchment students.

School Closure

Please note that the school will be closed as of July 1, 2022.  Phones and emails will not be monitored.  The school will reopen as of August 29, 2022.

First Day of School

The first day of school will be Tuesday September 6, 2022.  Please see the following link for the five day school calendar: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Elementary-2022-2023-Calendar-Approved.pdf

We wish all of our Cootes Community a safe & restful summer!
