Week of October 18 Updates

Hello to our families:

We hope you have enjoyed the short week as we head into the weekend. Please take a moment to read through the following updates:We are happy to have her in this capacity at Cootes!

Items from home:

We have noticed that there is an increasing number of students bringing personal items from home to school. Please note that unless instructed by a teacher, these items should not be coming to school as per our Covid Safety protocols. We thank you in advance for supporting us.

Early Dismissal:

As a courtesy, we are asking families to refrain from picking up their children during scheduled nutrition breaks (10:55-11:35 & 1:35-2:15). It is very challenging to locate a student when class cohorts have already been dismissed.

If you know that your child needs to be picked up early, please write a note in your child’s agenda, or specify this in Safe Arrival. Once you arrive at school, your child will be called down to the office. Please note, we are unable to have students wait in the office due to Covid Safety protocols.

Before and After School Routines:

A friendly reminder that we need to ensure physical distancing in the playground during morning arrival and after school dismissal. Once you drop off your child, please exit the playground in order to limit the number of people in the area. When picking up your child at dismissal, please do not the enter the playground prior to 3:35.

Cross Country:

Due to the weather forecast, our Cross Country event will take place on Monday, October 22nd. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately with extra shoes as the grounds at Churchill park are wet and muddy.

Crossing Guard:

We have been notified by the City of Hamilton Crossing Guards, that not all students are following the prompts / instructions provided by the Crossing Guard. Students are crossing without waiting, or are running through the cross walk before it has been deemed safe to do so. This is extremely unsafe, and we are asking that if your child walks where a Crossing Guard is used, to please  review the importance of listening and following the instructions of the Guard.

Have a wonderful weekend!
