Parking Lot: Morning and Afterschool

I am writing today as a follow-up to my message about parking.

The safety of our students is our priority.  I have been the school playground, staff parking lot and bus loop, there were a number of concerns:  numerous adults in the school playground that we are unable to identify, cars coming in quickly as students walked into the school, cars blocking the bus loop, cars parked illegally on the street where the signs clearly indicate “no parking”.  As a community, our work should be focused on ensuring our children and families can be at school safely.

After observing these last few days, I am extremely concerned for the safety of our students.  Moving forward families should not use the school parking lot for drop off or pick up at the beginning and end of the day.  The congestion is dangerous.  We encourage families to use the modes of transportation that are available to you such as walking, designated bussing where applicable. If you need to drop off your children, please use the available parking on community streets not private property or no parking zones.  Please do not park illegally as we have had numerous community concerns being voiced to us.

Supervision is always available 8:25am, please rest assured that your children are safe once they cross the gate and are on school property.  We ask that once supervision begins that you exit the playground.
