End of June Update

Hello Billy Green Families

It is hard to believe we are in the final stretch with only a few days of school left.

Farewell to our Grade 8s:  Last Thursday we celebrated our grade 8 students who completed their elementary years.  We are so excited to watch them grow as they begin their new chapter in high school. Thank you to Mrs Begley, Mr Soltesz, Mr Ingrassia and Mr Mace for supporting the organization of the evening.  A big thank you also goes out to our School Council who transformed our gym into a beautifully lit dance floor.

In and Around the Building:  This week we have a number of different events happening including class festivities, fire truck visits, calvin magic shows and more.  We are excited to be holding our year end assembly this Thursday as we celebrate the achievements of our students at our Be you Be Excellent assembly.

Welcomes and Goodbyes:  With every year, there are many transitions and changes that happen.  We welcome new staff and we must say goodbye to others.  We are happy to be welcoming Ms Dhaliwal  who will be leading our library programming and supporting FDK learning and Mrs Grzech (DECE) who will be welcomed into room 117 with Mrs. Starr.

With this it also means we have to say goodbye to very important members of our team.  Goodbyes go to Mrs. Miller-Boyes, Mrs Anderson (DECE), Ms Gottschling…they will all be sadly missed from our entire school community.  Also leaving are Mrs Hyatt and Mrs Hyslop.  These two wonderful humans have been the smiling faces of our front office and have connected with every single family member of our community.  There are no words to express how different our front office will be without them.  We wish them all the best at their new schools.

Changes: Changes are common in every school as educators extend their skills into different areas of school life.  We are excited to welcome Mrs. Mitchell to our FDK team and who will be joining Mrs Lewis in room 118.  Mrs Voth will be joining our grade 1 team and will be welcoming a new class of grade 1s to her room.  Mrs. McCrory will be joining Mrs. Dawson in room 116, as we welcome Mrs Grzech to room 117.  Change is never easy but it is also truly exciting!  Our staff are excited to start their next chapter!

Volunteering:  Many opportunities that we offer students rely heavily on our ability to be supported by volunteers.  Volunteers help us to supervise excursions, set up for events and more.  There are many hands that are always needed.  We encourage you to consider volunteer opportunities for the 2024-2025 school year.  To volunteer a vulnerable sector screening from Hamilton Police Services is required.  Please take a look at the following link for more information and please consider supporting our school next year.
