Kindergarten Registration Opens February 5

HWDSB is excited to welcome your child to school in September 2024! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year opens Monday, February 5, 2024.

Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program that helps children begin their education with a strong foundation. HWDSB is committed to fostering a learning environment where your child can embark on a journey of exploration, problem-solving and friendship. Our caring team of educators ensure that your children are challenged, encouraged and supported to achieve their very best.

You are eligible to register your child for the Kindergarten program in the calendar year that they turn four or five. Your child must attend school if they are age six by September 1. If your child did not register last year but falls within the age group, they are welcome to enter year two of the Kindergarten program.

Families can register conveniently online or opt for paper registration. Please see instructions below, or at on our Kindergarten webpage..

How to Register:

Note, only parents or legal guardians can register their children for school.

• Find your neighbourhood school in our School Locator tool or call 905-527-5092.
• Register online to create an account, enter details, and add your child to our student information system. If you have questions, please contact your local HWDSB school.
  • By email: Complete and print the Registration Form, available online or at your school, and submit it to your school via email (see school email list *I don’t know if this link is right but it’s the only one I could find*). The 2024-25 registration form will be available on February 5.
  • Paper Application: Paper applications can be requested and picked up from your local school. Paper applications can be completed at home and submitted back to schools once completed.
• Your elementary school will contact you to verify information submitted. Required documents include:
  • Proof of age (child’s birth certificate or passport)
  • Proof of address (identification that shows parent/guardian’s current home address);
  • Proof of immunization;
  • Verification of date of arrival/immigration documentation (if the child was not born in Canada).
  • If registered using our print method, bring a completed Child Information Form, also available at your school.
