STEAM Engine Program by Mathstronauts

Mathstronauts is delighted to announce STEAM Engine Program is back for HWDSB students for its 7th year!

The STEAM Engine program is taking place afterschool online and is available for interested students who wish to learn technology skills such as coding, 3D modeling and graphic design.

The cost to participate in this 10-session program is $125.00 per student, with financial assistance available to students who are not able to pay the fee (reach out to Mathstronauts [email protected]).

STEAM Engine Program – Exploring Coding and Design Tools is a hands-on STEM program provided to Grades 5 – 8 students. In this program, students will complete 10 hands-on interactive workshops online, facilitated by representative role models. They will explore space sciences and create 3D models, graphics and animations that will be used towards a space-themed final project. Over 10 sessions, students will learn coding fundamentals using the Scratch coding platform to create games and animations and complete a Mars exploration animation that illustrates the challenges and solutions of traveling to and inhabiting the planet Mars. In the final week, students will receive a virtual visit from a GM Canada engineer/technologist to talk about their STEM journey.
