Important points about School Council you should know

  • It is an Advisory Committee that provides advice to the principal and school board
  • Every school has a council
  • It is Chaired by a parent/caregiver
  • Members include parents/caregivers, Principal, school staff and sometimes a community representative
  • Meets once per month for approximately 2 hours in the evening
  • Meetings this year will be Virtual not in person

What kinds of things does School Council do?

  • Supports fundraising activities
  • organizes family/student fun events
  • discusses issues or concerns to help make Billy Green a safe space for our students
  • receives regular updates from school principal

We would love to see more parents join us to support the council work this year.  If you have interest come check us out at the first meeting of the year.  Council is a great way to build connections to your child’s school and have a say in some of the school planning.   We can dedicate time in our first meeting to answer questions that folks might have as well.

There are some elected roles on Council; however, you also can be a member and not hold one of those particular roles too.  If you have an interest in an elected role or wish to nominate someone, please see the below information.

~ School Council Chair, 2022-23.

To declare your interest in becoming an elected member on School Council please submit a Declaration of Interest. These forms have been sent home with students.  You may also nominate another parent/guardian of a student our school to become an elected School Council member.  All declarations/nominations should be submitted by Wednesday, September 27.  You must attend the first school council meeting to be elected to council.

If you have any questions, please call (905-573-3505) or email ([email protected]).
