Principal Update Oct 16

Hello,

My update this week starts with a personal announcement. This week I have accepted a new assignment with the HWDSB and will be working to support remote and elearning programs at both the elementary and secondary panels. My involvement in this new role has started immediately. I am still working at Ancaster Meadow while an interim principal is appointed to support the school during the transition.

Mrs. Manfredi had previously been assigned half-time to the Remote School but will be moved back full time to Ancaster Meadow. While there will be a period of change, processes will be in place to make sure that all essential duties of the school are taken care of. I will communicate the interim principal as soon as this is known. If you are unsure who to contact about an issue during this time, please email [email protected] and the message will be directed to the correct person.

I have truly enjoyed my time at Ancaster Meadow. It is a wonderful school with an amazing student, staff, and parent community. There is a possibility that I may return to Ancaster Meadow once this position is finished, so I do not want to fully say goodbye. I wish all families the best as we all continue to move forward in a year filled with different transitions.

A few operational items to highlight:

Parent Verification forms – It is extremely important that we have up to date contact information for all students. The school closure time highlighted that our communications system depend on this information being correct and we can only do that with parent support tor verify contact information and to let us know when it changes. In the Parent Portal, a contact information verification form is now available. Please complete this verification by Friday Oct 23.

Progress Reports – The first Progress Report will be sent home on Thursday October 29th.

Illness Reporting – Students showing symptoms of illness need to stay home and not be in attendance at school. Ancaster Meadow must follow Public Health guidelines and follow strict exclusion processes for students showing symptoms of illness. Any student returning from an absence due to illness, must have parents now complete the Attestation for return to school/child care following illness or self-isolation Parents and guardians can complete the form to accompany your child’s return to school.

Take care and stay safe,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
