Principal Update Dec 13

Hello,

Today was the Annual Home & School Holiday Bazaar. It is a wonderful tradition at Ancaster Meadow that generates lots of excitement. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who make this possible.

Last week the PJ and Crazy Hair day raised over $800 for our Holiday Hamper program. There will be a dance on Friday December 20th to also raise money for the Holiday Hampers. It is great to see the Ancaster Meadow community pull together and help families in need.

Many families know our fantastic Crossing Guard Lynda. After faithfully serving the Ancaster Meadow community for the past 6 years, Lynda will be retiring. I know that many student and families love Lynda for her holiday treats, dog snacks, and dedication to keeping everyone safe. Please make sure to thank Lynda for her service and wish her well.

There is a Holiday assembly for students on the morning of Thursday December 19th. The assembly is a chance for all the classes in the school to come together and have some fun. There are very few events where students from all grades participate together and this is one of the events that all students from Kindergarten through grade 8 can participate together. Unfortunately fire regulations restrict the number of people allowed in the gym; there is only a small amount of standing room only for parents.

Friday December 20th is the last day of school before the holidays. The first day back to school is Monday January 6th.

I know that there is a lot of reporting regarding the current labour situation in the media. There can be different information for elementary and secondary schools and also between different school boards. The HWDSB will post any updates regarding the labour situation to https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/labour-update/ Also following @HWDSB on Twitter is a good way to stay updated.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
