Principal Update Oct 11

Hello,

This week started with some uncertainty about school events and the provincial labour negotiations. As Monday started, activities quickly have returned to normal. It was fantastic weather for the cross country event on Thursday. We also had our photo day; the retake day is Thurs Nov 7.

Some coming events are:

Monday Oct 14 – Thanksgiving holiday (school closed)

Tuesday Oct 15 – Grad wear information for grade 8 students

Tuesday Oct 22 – School Council (6:30pm), Home & School Association (7:30pm)

Tuesday Oct 29 – Progress Reports go home

October is also Islamic Heritage Month. It is a month recognized across Canada to celebrate the accomplishments of Muslims throughout the country. Ancaster Meadow is pleased to recognize this month along with a number of other public institutions within Hamilton.

Verification Forms with the current family contact information on file went home with students this week. It is important that the school have up to date information for all families- please return before Fri Oct 18.

Ancaster Meadow is also receiving an additional portable to accommodate the extra class that was staffed during the reorganization process. The portable should be onsite today but will be fenced off pending the appropriate permit and hook up process. We hope to have class 45 in the portable as soon as allowed.

Our Grad wear presentation  for gr 8 students starts the process of getting grade 8 students ready for their final year at Ancaster Meadow.  The grade 8 homeroom teachers will communicate information for our graduating students throughout the year about both graduation and the transition to high school.  An excellent way to find out more about high school programs is attending the HWDSB myPath, myWay event. This event showcases specialized high school programs across all secondary schools in the HWDSB. It is open to families of students in grade 7 and grade 8. The event is Tuesday, October 22nd from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm at Liuna Station.

I hope all families enjoy the long weekend.
