Principal Update Sept 27

Hello,

This week had the Terry Fox run on Thursday and despite starting out with some rain, the day turned out fantastic and it was great to see students supporting a great cause. Fundraising is due Monday Sept 30th. Click on the link below to reach our school’s donation page on the Terry Fox Foundation’s website.

Monday saw race car driver Dave Connelly come to the school and excite students with his race car as he performed some donuts! This was followed by a BBQ supported by our Home & School Association and Fortino’s Ancaster.

Monday September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. This is a National Day to recognize the history of Residential Schools. Students are encouraged to wear orange. Many of our classes have been incorporating stories relating to Residential schools this month.

Thursday Oct 3rd from 4:30-6:30pm is our Meet the Teacher event. The Home & School Association will be running a BBQ from 4-7pm. There is cross-country occurring on Thursday.

Yesterday I sent home a separate letter regarding the Board re-organization process. The new class structure starts on Monday. There will be an additional staffing change to class 1/2 as Ms. Schmelze has accepted a permanent position at another school. The Long-Term Occasional teacher for this class will be announced as soon as possible.

I know many parents have mentioned the current labour situation that has been in the media. All families can find updates from the HWDSB on this situation at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/labour-update/

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
