Letter Regarding Today’s Late Dismissal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to inform you that our school entered a Shelter in Place response today. Shelter in Place is used when all occupants within the school are kept inside the building due to an environmental or weather related situation.

The incident happened just before dismissal. There was a gas leak coming from a home next to the school and we were advised to enter a Shelter in Place in order to keep the students safe inside the building.

The Fire Department quickly determined that it was safe for students to exit the building, but this caused us to dismiss just past our regular bell time.

You can learn more about the Secure Schools Policy Directive on the HWDSB website at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/elementary/supports/safe-schools/secure-schools/

We want you to know that student safety is of the utmost importance at Ancaster Meadow. If you have any questions regarding this occurrence, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 905.304.3255.

We thank all parents, guardians and students for their patience and understanding in the late dismissal.

Sincerely,

Simon Goodacre

Principal
