Principal Update March 1

Hello,

OK, winter wins this year! It is yet another week where the weather has had an impact on the school. Ancaster Meadow staff and students are key organizers of the HWDSB Checkers tournament and this had to be rescheduled due to the snow day. The World Record attempt for the world’s largest checkers games will now take place on Tuesday March 5th.

Ancaster Meadow hosted two very successful indoor soccer tournaments this week at the Redeemer Sports Dome. Over 40 schools participated over the two days. Ancaster High School also had their guidance counsellors come in and help grade 8 students enter option sheets.  The school also participated successfully in the Ancaster Community Food Drive. Today was also a PA Day where staff were focused on Early Reading, Math Instruction, and School Culture Initiatives.

Our Lost & Found is overflowing. Please come into the Main Office and have a look if you are missing items. All items will be donated after March Break. A reminder that March Break will take place the March 11-15th week; there is no school this week. Grade 8 graduation photos will take place on Thursday March 21.

An After School Scholars Program will be starting shortly for math assistance in grade 3 and 6. Letters have been sent home with potential students. Please return these letters as soon as possible as the programs can only run with a minimal enrolment.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
