Principal Update Jan 24

Hello,

This week we battled the weather but school routines and activities continued. It is a good time to remind families that students need to be dressed appropriately to be outside. Time spent outdoors is an integral part of the school day. Children need fresh air and exercise and time spent outside affords students an opportunity for important physical activity. Principals are recommended by the HWDSB to follow the City of Hamilton Cold Weather Alerts and keep students inside when temperatures drop below  minus 15 degrees (minus 20 degrees with wind chill). All students should have hats, mitts, and boots; snowpants are recommended. Students should also have a pair of indoor shoes that can stay dry for class time. Information about the HWDSB weather policies can be found at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/severe-weather/

Tomorrow, Fri Jan 25 is a PA Day. There is no school for students.

This week, guidance counsellors from Ancaster High came in and presented about high school course selection for our grade 8 students. Families should follow up with the gr 8 homeroom teacher if there are further questions.

Next week, Scientist in the Schools will be visiting and some of our basketball teams will be competing in the Kiwanis Basketball Tournament. Report cards will be sent home on Tues Feb 12.

Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will be available starting Feb 4. Families can check  https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/kindergarten/  for further information. Registration information will be available both online and in the school office starting Feb 4.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
