Principal Update Jan 11

Hello,

Happy New Year! It’s been a great first week back from the holidays. Students are full of energy, enjoy seeing their friends, and are back into classroom routines  This week we had the Hamilton Fire Department present a fire safety assembly.

Basketball, Checkers, and Robotics clubs have all started up. We also have Caribou math upcoming. Jan 23rd will have Ancaster High staff visit to start the process of discussing grade 9 option sheets for our grade 8 students. This can be a source of both excitement and nervousness for families; please connect with your grade 8 homeroom teacher if you have questions.

Our next School Council (6:30pm) and Home & School Association (7:30pm) meeting is Tuesday January 22nd. I look forward to seeing a number of parents, new parents are always welcome.

A reminder about times for picking students up early. To reduce disruptions to class time, parents are asked to pick students up at the times between class periods. Pick up times are second Nutrition Break (1:00-1:40pm), the beginning of Period 5 (1:40pm), or Period 6 (2:30pm). The office staff cannot page into classrooms during instructional time.

Our Home & School Association organizes pizza lunches for students. This is arranged with parent volunteers and takes a lot of effort, please make sure that orders are accurate and placed on time.  Payments can be made through School Cash Online. Orders open on Jan 7, orders must be complete by Jan 22, and the first day of term 2 pizza is Feb 4.  It is important that families order through School Cash Online as there is no guarantee that slices will be available for cash sale.

I have also included a welcome from our Trustee below.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal

Hello Parents, Guardians and Caregivers!

My name is Alex Johnstone and I am your School Board Trustee representative for Wards 11 and 12. I have also been elected as Chair of the Board for 2018-2019.

As a school board trustee, my role is to maintain a focus on student achievement, well-being and equity and to participate in making decisions that benefit our board’s entire jurisdiction while representing the interest of my constituents. I look forward to visiting our schools and seeing all of the hard work that is taking place by students and staff.

I’d invite you to reach out to me to introduce yourself and share any positive feedback or concerns you might have about the schools in our wards. I can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 905-515-7082.
