Principal Update: Oct 26

Hello,

This week ended with myself and the Vice-Principal, Jeff Zwolak, completing an “Eat it or Wear it” challenge. The event was to celebrate the over $6000 raised this year for Terry Fox and the over $70 000 Ancaster Meadow has raised since it opened.  This is an amazing amount and speaks volumes of our students, families, and staff. Fun was had by all and some photos of the event our on Twitter. For the record, it was messy and I smelt like a strange mix of food for the rest of the day!

While volleyball continues to be going strong, Ancaster Meadow also has a number of other extra-curricular activities occurring. We have a number of students and staff participating in the Caribou

Math and Beaver Computing contests from the University of Waterloo. Our Robotics club is running during nutrition break and Mathstraunots is starting after school. These are great programs to encourage students to be involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and Math).

Ancaster Meadow also has an Art club for students in the Intermediate grades. New this year is our “Cat club” where a number of junior students are completing crafts with a cat theme. The ping pong club will also be starting shortly at breaks.

As the end of October is approaching fast, Halloween activities vary by grade and teachers will communicate class and grade  specific information through class-based communication. If you have a question about Halloween celebrations for your son or daughter please contact the teacher directly.

This Wednesday an update had been posted to the website about Lunchbox orders. Sun Oct 28th is the deadline for the first order. Both Lunch Box and Pizza orders are organized by the Home & School Association and do not happen without their time and dedication. To help the parents organize such a large task it is necessary to have all orders in on time https://www.lunchboxorders.com/

Our Home & School Association also has some Facebook groups to help parents share information. These are run by the parents in the Home & School Association and not the school but are useful sources of information. The two groups are:

Parents of Ancaster Meadow Facebook Group (Security questions asked upon membership request to ensure safety the students)

Ancaster Meadow Home & School Facebook Page

Some upcoming dates:

  • Progress Reports will be coming home with students on Tues Oct 30.
  • Parent Interviews Thurs Nov 1 4:00-6:30pm and Fri Nov 2 during the school day. Please contact teachers directly to arrange interview times.
  • Nov 2 will be a PA Day for students and there will be no school for students.
  • Nov 14 is the Day in the Life event for grade 8 students at Ancaster High
