Principal Update June 22
Hello,
I would like to start this week’s update with a congratulations to our grade 8 students who graduated from Ancaster Meadow this week. Wednesday night saw a wonderful ceremony organized by dedicated staff and a fun evening dinner dance organized by our equally dedicated parent volunteers from Home & School. Best wishes to our grade 8’s as they start their high school journey.
This week had a final flurry of activities with class movie trips, camping, track and field, and more. Next week will also bring some final class trips, play day on Tuesday, and a year end assembly on Wednesday.
Report cards and class placements for next year will go home with students on Monday. Students will have a chance to meet their teacher fro next year on Thursday morning. At the end of May, a posting went home through this newsletter and on the website about a chance for parents to provide input into class placements. A number of parents took advantage of this opportunity. To ensure an organized process in a large school, no class moves will be considered at the year end; any further class moves will only be considered as part of the wider class re-organization process at the end of September.
I would also like to welcome Jeff Zwolak as our new Vice-Principal. He will be joining us from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board.
A end of year paper letter will be sent home with the report cards. It has some important end of year information about bussing and out-of-catchment.
Have a great weekend,
Simon Goodacre, Principal
