Principal Update April 20

Hello,

We started the week with an unexpected “snow day.” The weather has unfortunately led to a very muddy field. We have had to have some indoor recesses and the time outside has been limited to “black top” only. Hopefully we get some nice weather to dry our the field.

Come out to our first “Family Financial Literacy and Coding Night” at Ancaster Meadow Public School from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm on  Tuesday April 24th 2018.

From 5:30 to 6:00 pm you can learn about coding, our robotics team and see the math games coded by our grade 4/5 class. At 6:00 pm, you can attend a Financial Literacy Workshop led by a C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant). We have one workshop for Parents called, ”How To Talk To Your Kids About Money” Presented by Deborah Doody, C.P.A. and one for students called , “How Much Does a Pet Cost?” Presented by Stratis Tsapoitis, C.P.A.

Pizza will be sold from 5:30 – 6:00 pm- All proceeds will be donated to the SPCA and McMaster Children’s Hospital .

The HWDSB has released some resources for parents regarding the math curriculum. The resources can be found at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/elementary/supports/mathematics-parent-resources/ and can help parents understand the various expectations at each grade level. Ancaster Meadow is utilizing the Mathletics resource https://ca.mathletics.com/ to provide math resources for both class related tasks and extra work. Please contact your student’s homeroom teacher for username and password information.

A few dates for the calendar coming up: Tues April 24 – Financial Literacy night, Thurs May 17th – School Open House, Thurs May 24th – Kindergarten and Gr 1 Orientation night, Fri June 15th – Home & School Spring Fling.
