Principal Update – Feb 23

Hello,

This week started with Family Day but a full week of activities has occurred in the 4 days. Graduate students from the Computer Science Department from McMaster were working on some math and computer coding concepts, MADD Canada presented to our grade 7 and 8 students, and a presentation about Gifted education all occurred this week.

Next week, Ancaster Meadow takes a lead role in the HWDSB Checker’s Tournament with a number of students participating and acting as student leaders. On Thursday we will be running a Winter Wellness day where students get to pick a number of different activities throughout the day.

Friday March 2nd is a PA Day. There is no school for students. Staff will be learning about Early Reading, math instruction , and Equity issues.

A reminder to parents that supervision starts at 8:45am, students cannot be on school property before that time.  If parents need an earlier drop off for students, they have to arrange for before or after care with Umbrella Daycare.

McMaster Child & Youth University (MCYU) has been presenting to a number of classes at Ancaster Meadow over the past month on a variety of topics.  They have an open weekend event called Curiosity Crawl for families  Sat Mar 3 check https://mcyu.ca/ for details
