Depave Update Oct 10th

October 10th, 2018

Dear Yorkview Families,

Two weekends ago 133 people showed up to help with the removal of asphalt in the back playground. It was an amazing response by our community to improve our school and community. Thank-you!

This Saturday, please join us as we continue to work on our back playground. We need volunteers with buckets, shovels, pitch forks, wheelbarrows, hard rakes, a few seed spreaders, and push brooms to work a shift.

Shift 1. 9am-12pm – garden preparation, adding soil and building garden boxes, repairing damage to the field. The morning will be spent adding LOTS of soil to the gardens, raking out the area and preparing the area for planting, laying sod, and sorting plants. We’ll need lots of wheelbarrowing help in the morning!

12pm Break for lunch

Shift 2. 12:30-4pm – Planting and mulching The afternoon we will plant the rain gardens, trees and shrubs and mulch the entire area. Don’t forget your closed toe shoes, reusable water bottle, gardening gloves, and energy!

Looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible,

M. A. Degner, Principal (on behalf of the Depave Planning Committee)
