Inspiring People from Class 4/5A

Hello everybody! I am Claire W and I’m Kaitlyn K from Class 4/5A. Today we are going to talk about the unit Inspiring People, which we are doing in class right now. Let’s talk about it…

First we will talk to you about the traits of inspiring people, you are an inspiring person to others if you:

  • Believe in equality
  • You have empathy for others
  • You believe in collective power
  • You use all your energy to make a difference
  • You have immense courage
  • You are emotionally healthy (Your words and actions uplift others rather than pull them down/ never have negative energy)

Inspiring People

We have been working on padlet boards, we all get on and write what we think, because there is usually a question. Check them out! https://padlet.com/fnicolai/inspiringpeople https://padlet.com/fnicolai/biography_text_features and  https://padlet.com/fnicolai/inspiring_people_biographies We have all contributed to the page and you can see what some of us wrote!

We have been reading biographies about inspiring people, like Malala Yousafzai and Viola Desmond. They were very inspiring biographies.

We have also started researching on Inspiring people and learning a lot of things we have not known. A Lot of things we will learn in this unit will be quiet surprising for A LOT of people.

In class, we are doing something called the Youtube Of The Week, where you pick a very inspiring, informative or persuasive video, and post it on the blog. (check with Ms. Nicolaides first!) Everyone will get a date to do it, and will answer questions that people post. Hey, why don’t you check it out? Here is the link: https://inquiringminds.commons.hwdsb.on.ca/category/youtube-of-the-week/

Biographies are a way of explaining an important person’s life or a portion of their life, and they don’t have to be important! They can be about your dad or your grandma, and we could go on and on and on about who you could choose, but that would just be wasting our time! All biographies should include a summary of their life, some bold letters for important words, or words you do not know. Also include a picture like this:

An Example  ABRAHAM LINCOLNABRAHAM LINCOLN

Well, that’s our time! Bye From Claire W and Kaitlyn K!
