Weekly Update for Oct 23-27

Dear Queensdale Families:

A reminder that those students registered for Artshine are to meet in Ms. Purba’s class (Rm 135) every Monday from Oct 23-Dec 11 from 3:15-4:15pm starting on Monday. Those students registered for Mad Science are to meet in Mr. Stringer’s class ( Rm 137) every Wednesday from Oct 25-Dec13 from 3:15-4:15pm starting next Wednesday.  Students will be dismissed at the front doors of the school. We ask that parents/guardians remain outside the front of the building to wait for their students and that they are here on time. Thank – you.

ALL SUB ORDERS ARE DUE ON TUESDAY,OCTOBER 24th for SUB DAY ON FRIDAY,OCTOBER 27th.  WE ARE UNABLE TO PROCESS LATE ORDERS.

Our Halloween Parade will take place on Tuesday, October 31 at 1:45pm. Only students in grades JK-Grade 5 will be participating in this event. Students choosing not to particiapte in the parade will be assigned to other classrooms. Our grade 6-8 students will be attending a Halloween dance or going to the games room. If students are attending the dance we are asking that they donate 1 non-parishable food item for our “Scare Hunger Away” Food Drive. Students in the parade will be led outside of the front door, down the walkway to the sidewalk where they will walk west along Queensdale and then back towards the school on Prince George and enter the West doors. Families are invited to stand along the sides of the walkway and the sidewalks. Please be sure to send all items for costumes with your child as parents/guardians will not be permitted to enter classrooms to assist with costume preparation and may not enter at the end of the parade as many classes will be having class celebrations. Please keep in mind that simple costumes with minimal accessories are preferred given that staff will be very busy assisting and supervising students during this event.

To ensure the safety of all students and staff the following items will not be permitted for this event: No masks of any kind, no lengthy dragging costumes, scarves, trains, no replicas of weapons, swords, knives, lightsabers, etc., no violent or graphic costumes. Items may be worn on students heads as long as they do not block vision.  A reminder that if your child is having a Halloween Party that day and you are sending in goodies, they must be nut free, cannot be homemade and must be in the original and sealed package that they were purchased in.

Thank you for your cooperation with this event!

Mr. Carey – Principal
