Principal Update Feb 8

Hello,

This update comes at the end of a very short week! Unfortunately this winter seems to be one dictated by the weather conditions. I can not remember another time back-to-back weather cancellations.

Report cards come home on Tues Feb 12. It is a great time to do a formal check in on student progress. While the report card is an important document, constant communication between parents and teachers is more important – always reach out to a student’s teacher if you have questions about progress.

February is Black History month and many of our classes are recognizing this through class research projects. Also this week, the Dairy Farmers  of Ontario are presenting to some of our younger grades and staff from Westdale are presenting to some of our grade 8 students about ESL program opportunities.

Please, please, please remember to drive safe around the school, especially at pick up and drop off times. The school has over 600 families, it takes everyone to play there part in ensuring student safety. Please be aware of and obey the No Stopping and No Parking signs in front of the school. The area in front of the school and by the cross walk is a No Stopping zone. Please do not stop in this area, even for short drop offs; the resulting back up of traffic is dangerous.
