Principal Update Oct 5

Hello,

It was great to see so many families out at last night’s Meet the Teacher event. The staff at Ancaster Meadow do a great job and are very willing to maintain relationship with parents. Always feel welcome to contact your son or daughter’s teacher if you have a question. A huge thank you to our Home & School volunteers for their efforts in organizing the BBQ.

On Thursday, classes switched over to the new schedule required from reorganization. Though it is not always an ideal process, the staff work hard to make sure it as smooth as possible for students. Everyone’s understanding is appreciated.

Monday Oct 8th is the Thanksgiving holiday. There is no school that day. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.

Ancaster Meadow has lots of events occurring throughout the school. Announcements are made each morning and also posted to the school website.

Some upcoming dates:

Cross country  – Wed Oct 10

GR 8 Grad wear – Tues Oct 16

Mathstraunts is back this year!An after school math, science, computer program registration is at https://mailchi.mp/241d513be954/steam-engine-october-newsletter-461837?e=cfde1e64fe

The HWDSB is hosting a Pathways information night for students in gr 7 to 10. myPath myWay is an excellent event to learn more about some of the specialized programs available in secondary school. The event is Wed Oct 24 at Liuna Station more information can be found at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Pathways-Information-Night-2018.pdf

A reminder to families that supervision starts at 8:45am. Students should not be at school before this time. Families that require an earlier drop off need to contact the Umbrella daycare for information about before or after care.

Yesterday I posted a letter on the school website regarding courtesy bus applications. The letter outlines some of the factors that are impacting the processing of courtesy bus applications. The letter can be found at https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/ancastermeadow/files/2018/10/Courtesy-Bus-Requests.pdf

To promote awareness of Canadian government, our school is registered for Student Vote for the upcoming Municipal Elections. Class 5A will take the lead in having a student election that models the actual election; results for this event are tabulated with schools across the province.

Enjoy the long weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
