Principal Update June 15

Hello,

Today is Spring Fling! As I write this, our Home & School volunteers are busy with preparations. This event takes a huge amount of volunteer time and dedication. Ancaster Meadow is lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers. These volunteers are not only involved in Spring Fling; we have volunteers for field trips, special events, food programs, book fair, reading programs, and more. To honour the work of our volunteers, any individual who has volunteered throughout the school year is invited to attend out Volunteer Recognition Tea on Tuesday June 19th from 8:15 – 9:00 am.

This week we had our Primary Poetry festival and Kindergarten Father’s Day event. Next week we have a number of year end trips. Our grade 8 graduation is also taking place on Wed June 20th at 5pm. For grade 8 students there is still a chance to register in the HWDSB “Grade 9 Orientation” programs https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/cce/summer/summer-non-credit/gr9-orientation/

On Monday June 25th, students will receive their final report cards and their class placement for next year. At the end of May, a posting went home through this newsletter and on the website about a chance for parents to provide input into class placements. A number of parents took advantage of this opportunity.  To ensure an organized process in a large school, no class moves will be considered at the year end; any further class moves will only be considered as part of the wider class re-organization process at the end of September.

The last day of school for students is Thursday June 28th. The HWDSB school year calendar for 2018-2019 can be found at  https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/2018-2019-Elementary-Calendar.pdf

For our families who have been observing Ramandan- Eid Mubarak.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
