Principal’s Message – Sept 15

While school is always a busy place at the beginning of September, Ancaster Meadow has had an excellent start of the school year. I want to thank all our staff for their hard work. I continued to be impressed with the positive energy from students and staff.

A number of activities are already on the go. Students are encouraged to get involved in the many activities that Ancaster Meadow has to offer. Tryouts and meetings are on the morning announcements. The announcements are also on the TV in the foyer and on the school website.

Parents are encouraged to make contact with their child’s teacher and discuss any questions or concerns you might have. Many of our teachers have their email posted on the school website, other teachers can be reached by phoning the school.

Meet the Teacher night is scheduled for Thursday Oct 5th from 5-7pm. This is a chance to meet your child’s teacher and find out about what is going on in the classroom. The Meet the Teacher night is not parent-teacher interviews; the event is a time to find out about the classroom as a whole and not a time to discuss individual student concerns. Parent -Teacher interview will be scheduled Nov 30 and Dec 1 (more details will follow).

Our first School Council and Home and School Association is this coming Tuesday Sept 19th at 6:30pm. The School Council meeting will have elections for members at this meeting. These two organizations provide excellent opportunities for parents to be involved and find out more about what is happening in the school.

Busing has presented a few challenges during start up. While the school is willing to work with parents on making this process as smooth as possible, ultimately busing is handled by the Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services. They can be reached 905-523-2318. The school will accept requests for curtesy transportation. These requests are dependent on existing bus space. Schools can only start approving curtesy requests at the start of October.

A few operation items for parents to be aware of:

Our school store is open again. Chips, cookies, frozen yogurt and milk $1.00   Popcorn $2.00

A reminder that our school has students with life threatening allegeries. Please send lunches that are Nut Safe.

The school front door is for access during the school day. Early and late access for Umbrella Daycare is through the side door in the Daycare area.
