Book Donations – From time to time, families ask if our school accepts book donations during home clean-ups. The answer is yes, we do welcome books. However, we are thoughtful about the titles we add to our classrooms. We focus on books that are current, engaging, and reflect the diversity of our students and community. To help guide donations, we have attached a list of titles that our staff especially love to have in their classrooms. If you are doing a fall clean-out and come across books you’d like to pass along, please take a look at the list first. Thank you in advance for your support. Family Book Donation Titles

School Parking Lot – We ask for your continued support in ensuring student safety during drop-off and pick-up times. Our school experiences a significant amount of traffic each day, and we are fortunate to have a parking lot that accommodates both staff and family parking. While this is a great benefit to our community, it also presents some challenges.

Here are a few important reminders and ideas to help us all navigate the parking lot safely and efficiently.

Off Setting Your Pick-Up Times: Families with both kindergarten and school-age children: Rather than waiting in the parking lot, plan to arrive around 3:00 pm. Supervision is provided in both the kindergarten pen and tarvia until 3:15 pm, so your children will be safely supervised. By doing this, we will allow those with Kindergarten only students to pick up and clear out of our lot quickly.  Families with only older children (Grades 4–8): If your child can wait a minute or two in the school yard, consider arriving closer to 3:05 pm, when the parking lot is much less congested.  School yard supervision is provided until 3:15 pm each day.

Drop and Go Zone – Do not leaving your vehicle unattended in a space where it may block others from entering or exiting.  Additionally, our drop and go area is not for parking.  Parking in this zone not only inconveniences those on pick up, but backs up traffic on neighbouring roads.

Bus Loading Zone: The area along the school yard fence is reserved for our 12 buses that load and unload each day. Please do not park in this area.

Patience and Courtesy: Please be patient and courteous to one another.  Sometimes, even with everyone doing their best, our lot can back up.

School Council Initiatives  – We have active School Council with lots of exciting events and activities planned.

Big Box Fundraising – Our campaign runs from October 27th to November 17th. All orders and payments are due by November 17th and must be submitted through School Cash Online. All profits will go to support Winona students.  Big Box Fundraising- Media Release Order Form Big Box Winona

Winona Cookbook – Calling all home cooks.  We are looking for your family favourites share with our community.  Be a part of the Winona Family Cookbook.  Recipe Submission via link or QR code in flyer.

Spirit Wear – Winona Spirit Wear is available for purchase.  The Spirit Wear website will remain open for the remainder of the school year, to allow for flexible purchasing timelines.  Additional items and accessories have been added, so be sure to visit the online store.    https://www.myschoolgear.ca/store/winonaelementary
