School Council – A heartfelt thank you to this year’s School Council executive, members and participants. Our co-chairs—Nitu Jhuty, Marla Accomando, and Alisha Townsend, did an outstanding job leading the Council, organizing events, and coordinating fundraisers throughout the year.
Thanks to their efforts, School Council successfully hosted a variety of events, including:
- Movie Night
- Holiday Marketplace & Celebration Evening
- Parent Engagement Speaker
- Spirit Wear
- Poinsettia Fundraiser
- Pizza Sales & Face Painting (Meet the Staff & Open House)
- And the upcoming End-of-Year BBQ
With the funds raised, we were able to purchase new outdoor equipment, update our sports jerseys, and provide iPads for classroom use. We deeply appreciate everyone who supported the School Council—whether formally or informally—over the past year. Mark your calendars. Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for September 25th at 6:00 PM. We hope to see you there.
Gr. 3 & 6 EQAO Testing – Gr. 3 & 6 EQAO Testing – Grade 3 and 6 families will receive an email on Monday regarding the upcoming EQAO testing. For parents looking to understand better what to expect during testing, please visit the EQAO website – Assessments – and select the grade that is most relevant for you. By scrolling down, you can find an overview, video, sample assessment and a parent webinar planned for June 3.
End of Year BBQ and Celebration – Winona School Council is excited to once again host our end-of-year BBQ and celebration on June 17th. This year, we are adding even more fun for families, including a variety of games for students. To make the games extra special, we are collecting small prize donations for our treasure chest—because one person’s clutter is another’s treasure. If you have a drawer full of trinkets like fidget toys, bracelets, pencils, Happy Meal toys, or other small items, we would love to repurpose them as game prizes. A collection box will be available in the office for donations.
Forge FC – As a thank you for coming to the Forge FC School Day Match, Forge has given each student the opportunity to redeem 2 complimentary tickets to an upcoming Forge FC home match at Tim Hortons Field, valid until the end of June. Attached is a printable graphic that you can use to choose a game and use the QR code to redeem the tickets. Alternatively, students and families can redeem their tickets here: https://am.ticketmaster.com/forge/promotional-page?id=MTg1Nw%3D%3D
