Embrace the Chill Week – To “beat the winter blaws” we are hoping to support the mental health of our students and staff by having a week where the whole school can participate in a variety of winter/mental health activities. The theme is “Embrace the Chill”. Throughout the week, classes will engage in school-wide virtual assemblies with linked activities (i.e. Make your YOUniqe snowflake, Winter Movement Activities, Winter STEM Activities, Chill Out & Listen to a Story). There will be prizes and opportunities for students to share their thoughts about wellness. Thank you to our staff and student Mental Health and well-being representatives for planning this week.
Cold Weather Reminder – We are expecting a cold snap this week. Please send your child dressed for the weather. We will use the HWDSB/Hamilton Public Health cold weather guidelines (https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/about/severe-weather/) to determine time if our students will have outdoor time (e.g. indoor recess, shortened outdoor recess or outdoor recess).
EQAO Math Night for Parents and Guardians – Free live webinar where EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. These assessments are taken by all Ontario students in Grades 3, 6 and 9. During the webinar, EQAO staff will show how these math questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes. Staff will also share valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and guardians support their children’s math learning
