Lockdown Drills – The term “Lockdown” is used when there is a major incident or threat of school violence within the school or in relation to the school. As part of our Secure School Protocol, the staff and students at Winona practice Lockdown procedures twice annually. Before each drill, teachers will have age-appropriate discussions regarding the drill and their expectations. To ensure there is no confusion, these rehearsals are identified as drills via an announcement (i.e. THIS IS A DRILL).  We have planned our first lockdown drill of the school year for Friday, December 6th. Please contact the school if you have further questions regarding the Lockdown procedures at Winona and/or review HWDSB Secure Schools.

Respiratory Illness – Respiratory illnesses are circulating in our community and school.  We ask for your support during cold and flu season by following best practices, including keeping students home when they are ill.

zumbaOn Friday, December 13th, Winona will be having a Zumba Day! Students will be participating in different movement activities and choreography. Zumba helps increase focus and self-confidence and shows kids that being active can be a party! We are asking students to bring in $1 (a physical dollar please – not available online) to help support this fun event. Students are also encouraged to dress in bright, neon colours to add more excitement to this day!
