This approach allows our families to see themselves reflected (mirrors) as well as gain insight (windows) into the lives and experiences of others.  This is crucial for fostering a safe and caring community at Winona.  All families are important to us so please let us know if we have missed a significant or important date for your family.

Halloween – Thursday, October 31 is Halloween. On this day, students will have the option to wear a costume to school. If your child chooses to wear a costume, please ensure they arrive already dressed. A “school costume” should be simple and practical, allowing participation in all daily activities such as recess, physical education, and music. We suggest leaving extra accessories that could get lost or broken at home for evening celebrations. To assist with planning, discuss with your child the difference between their school costume and their special home costume. Please be mindful of cultural appropriation, offensive or insensitive costumes, weapons, masks that might obstruct vision, and inappropriate images.

Each educator is aware of their students’ allergy and dietary needs and will offer guidance on including special treats. We recognize that not all families in our school community celebrate Halloween. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment where learning and routines proceed smoothly for all students.

Morning Traffic – A few weeks ago, we implemented new routines to enhance student safety around the bus loading zones in the mornings. We recognize that these changes have significantly affected the traffic flow into the school. We appreciate everyone who has provided feedback and want to assure you that we are actively working on a solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
