Thank you to School Council for organizing the Paul Davis presentation for our families and students.  We hope that our Grade 4-8 students were able to have some good follow-up discussions both in class and at home.  I know the parents who had the opportunity to attend left with a lot to think about regarding online safety.

Communicating Changes in Arrangements – To ensure smooth pick-up arrangements, we kindly request your cooperation in sharing any changes as early as possible during the school day. Early Communication is helpful as our teachers may not always have the opportunity to read emails sent later in the day due to their teaching commitments. To avoid any confusion or delays, we encourage you to reach out to us by 2:00 PM if you need to modify your child’s pick-up arrangements. If you send an email to your child’s teacher, please consider copying our office staff at [email protected]. This way, we can ensure that your message is received promptly. Alternatively, you can call our office directly. Our staff will be happy to assist you.  Additionally, please be aware that from approximately 2:30 PM onwards, classes may be in the process of packing up or transitioning to outdoor daily physical activities.

Winona Move-A-Thon – The Winona School Council is excited to announce our upcoming Move-a-Thon, which promotes physical activity, community spirit, and fundraising for our school. All students will be invited to spend a portion of their day engaging in dance, movement and sports activities coordinated by our School Council members and student leaders. How Can You Help? – Sponsor your child by donating using School Cash Online. Why Donate?: The proceeds from this event will directly benefit our school. We’ll use the funds to improve equipment, enhance technology resources, and provide enriching experiential learning opportunities for all students.

Summer Program – Continuing Education is pleased to offer a variety of summer programs to help keep your whole family learning this summer!  Visit the program link for more information. Summer | Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (hwdsb.on.ca)

Human Development –  On April 9, HWDSB informed elementary families that learning on Strand D: Growth and Development and Sexual Health will occur between May 6 and June 14 for the 2023-24 school year.   For families interested in reviewing the curriculum expectations for each grade, please visit the following link Human Development | Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (hwdsb.on.ca) and select the “Elementary Curriculum Expectations” tab.  An exemption form needs to be completed if families want students exempted from this learning. The form is now available and can be accessed through the Parent Portal. It can be found in the ‘Forms’ section under ‘Other’ and is titled “Human Development and Sexual Health Exemption.” Paper copies or phone calls to schools will also be accepted if the Parent Portal is not an option. Exception forms must be submitted by May 9, 2024.
