Photo Re-takes – For students who were absent on Photo Day last week, there will be another opportunity to have their photo taken on November 17.  Reminders will be sent out closer to the retake date.

Halloween – Monday, October 31 is Halloween. For students who choose to wear a costume on this day, we ask that they come to school wearing the costume and keep the costume on for the duration of the day.   A “school costume” should be simplified and allow your child to participate in the full day.  We recommend that extra accessories are left at home. To help with planning, you may want to talk to your child about the difference between their school costume and their special home costume (also consider cultural appropriation, offensive and insensitive costumes, weapons, masks that might impede vision, inappropriate images, etc.). We recognize that some families in the school community may not participate in Halloween.  It is our goal to plan for an inclusive day that allows for learning and routines to continue for all students.

Communication Standards – Last week, HWDSB sent out a communication regarding the Communications Standards within our board.  HWDSB has created a simple infographic that outlines what parents can expect in terms of communication from the board, school, and educators. Communication Standards v9 (hwdsb.on.ca)

As partners in education, parents, guardians, and caregivers can support Communication Standards. They can:
– Ensure their phone number, email and home address is current at your school
– Secure passwords for HWDSB Platforms
– Frequently visit platforms to learn what is new
– Provide feedback at the class, school, or district levels
– Navigate general and Human Rights concerns using Addressing Concerns @HWDSB resources.
