School Council Needs You!

Winona’s first School Council Meeting for this year will be held in the Library/Learning Commons on Thursday, September 20th at 6:30 p.m. (immediately following the “Meet the Staff” Open House).  We want you to be involved!

School Council is an excellent opportunity for parents and guardians of students at Winona to participate in the school.  School Council provides advice and input to the Principal to help set school direction and discusses issues.  School Council learns about the Strategic Directions of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Ontario Ministry of Education.  At times, School Council is asked to provide input to the Ministry of Education or the HWDSB.  School Council also has sub-committees such as fundraising to raise money to improve student life and learning at Winona.  The Fundraising Committee plans and organizes several events during the school year for our school community.

We would love to have your involvement on School Council.  There are approximately 8 meetings throughout the school year.  If you are interested in being on council, please fill out the attached “Self-Nomination Form” and drop it off at the school office by Wednesday, September 19.
