Student lockers affected by HVAC work

WH Ballard-Letter-Debris Mar 21 2022

March 21, 2022

Dear families,

At W.H. Ballard we do our best to provide a safe and clean learning environment for all students. I am writing to let you know that recent work to improve our HVAC system affected some student lockers.

HWDSB engaged a contractor to remove a ceiling with suspected lead paint as part of the overall HVAC renovations project. During the work, non-asbestos containing plaster from the underside of the ceiling fell through holes into the top of student lockers on the third floor.

The Board responded as soon as the debris was reported.

An environmental consultant on the project promptly investigated and did not identify any concerns with the plaster debris. Procedures were put in place and the area is being cleaned.

Please reach out if you have any concerns.

Thank you for your understanding.

Jennifer Robertson-Heath
Principal
