Westwood Class Building for 2023-2024 School Year

Hello Westwood Families,  

As the new school year approaches, many families begin to think about class placements for their children. The process for organizing classes will begin shortly at Westwood Elementary.  It is our belief, that your input, along with our team, provides a balanced perspective to this process. When we begin to create classes, all educators meet as a team, including our Learning Resource Teacher and school administration to discuss the specific needs of each student. Please know that class building is a complex, multi-disciplinary team process where a variety of factors are considered. 

We want to thank you in advance for trusting our team in building classrooms that balance the needs of our students.  If there are extenuating circumstances that you would like us to consider for your child when class building, please send an email to [email protected] .  In the subject line of the email, please note “2023/2024 Consideration”.  We are asking that all communication be sent in by May 12th, 2023.   

Also, if you know that your child(ren) will NOT be at Westwood for the 2023/2024 school year due to movement out of our catchment area, please notify the office through the same email address above.  

Please note that we will not entertain requests for specific teachers.  It is also important to understand that all class placements are tentative until the end of September. 

Additionally, students will not find out who their classroom teacher is until September 2023.  More details about class placement for the fall will be communicated in the last week of August.
