Bomb Threat Practice Drill – Monday, May 1st, 2023

Hello Westwood Community,

On Monday, May 1st, 2023 @ 9:30am, Westwood will be holding our required annual Bomb Threat Practice Drill.

As outlined in the Hamilton Police/School Board Protocol 2016, “The Ministry of Education, school boards, and police services continue to work in partnership to create safe school environments. This work includes planning and preparation in the event that a bomb threat is received, an explosive device is reported or discovered, or an explosives incident takes place. The protocol outlines the framework for developing a school based response plan that aligns with other boards to ensure a level of consistency across the province regarding emergency response procedures.”

Please note that for our drill, we will not be walking to our evacuation site, rather, we will be conducting this in a similar fashion to a fire drill without the fire drill alarm.

To learn more about our policies and procedures around a Bomb Threat situation, please review the information contained within the protocol.  The link to the protocol is below.

Specific information regarding the bomb threat can be found in Appendix C of the document.

If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

Mr. Azzopardi
