Photo Retake Day and Hold & Secure Drill

Good morning, Westwood Community!

Here are a few updates:

Photo Retake Day

Has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 7th.  If your child(ren) missed photo day on the original date, this will be the day that they will have their photo taken.

Please put a note in your child’s agenda if you require them to have their first photo taken or would like them to have a retake.  

Hold and Secure Drill

This Thursday, November 24th, our school will be having our Hold and Secure Drill.  We are required to have Hold and Secure Drill each school year.  This drill will be taking place @ 9:30am.

Here are the key points for the Hold and Secure:

“Hold and Secure”: (School most likely to be notified by Hamilton Police Services)
 is used when the school is secured due to an ongoing situation outside and not related to
the school that requires all persons to remain in the building(e.g. bank robbery near a
school);
 the school continues to function normally, with the exterior doors locked until the
situation is resolved;
 staff member posted near each entrance to ensure no one leaves the building;
 all movement in and out of the school is restricted.
 exterior facing windows should be covered or blinds drawn, lights dimmed, where
possible.
 Police will notify the school when it can come out of ‘Hold and Secure.’
