Final Remarks for the 2021-2022 School Year

Happy June Everyone!

First and foremost, I wanted to thank the Westwood community for welcoming me as your new Principal.  It has been a wonderful transition as I get to learn about our students and community.  The months flew by and I am excited to resume my role as Principal in September.

Today, we were able to acknowledge our Grade 5 students who will begin their new journey’s in September at Westview Middle School.  Good luck, Grade 5’s and please continue to make us proud!  Thank you to all of our educators who pulled together to make this a memorable experience for our students.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our School Council members and volunteers who make Westwood the special place it is.  Without our School Council members and volunteers, initiatives such as our Nutrition Program, Cookbook, Freezie Days would not be possible.  We look forward to welcoming more new members to School Council in the fall!

As the year wraps up, I would like to share a few pieces of information with you.  On Monday, June 27th, all student report cards were sent home.  With the report cards, there was an attached slip indicating next years room number.  On the first day of school, Tuesday, September 6th, please find the staff member holding up the room number on the field.  If you are a new Kindergarten family, an educator will be connecting with you the last week of August or beginning of September with your start date and time.

At this time, it is with mixed emotions that I acknowledge the number of staff that will not be returning in September.  Please help me say goodbye and good luck to the following staff:

Mrs. Martin (Office Administrator LTO)

Ms. Turner (Office Administrator)

Mrs. Legree (DECE)

Ms. Lewis (FDK LTO)

Mrs. King (DECE LTO)

Ms. Costie (EA LTO)

Ms. Plexman (EA LTO)

Ms. Fapuro (EA LTO)

Mrs. Baturin (Reading Specialist)

Mrs. Ruttan (ELL/ESL Educator)

With goodbyes, we also have some new additions to our Westwood Family.  Please help me welcome:

Ms. Bentley (Office Administrator)

Ms. Western (Teacher)

Ms. Jansen (Teacher)

Mr. Morrison (Teacher)

Ms. Groves (Reading Specialist)

Ms. Castellan (ELL/ESL Educator)

We look forward to welcoming our new staff for September.

At this time, I also happy to share with you our school organization for next year.  Come September, our school organization will be as follows (subject to change during fall re-organization):
