Student Class Placement for 2022/2023

Hello Westwood Families,  

As the new school year approaches, many families begin to think about class placement for their children. The process for organizing classes will begin very shortly at Westwood Elementary.

It is our belief, that your input, along with our team, provides a balanced perspective to this process. When we begin to create classes as a staff, educators meet as a team, including our Learning Resource Teacher and school administration to discuss the specific needs of each student. Please know that class building is a complex, multi-disciplinary team process where a variety of factors are considered including, but not limited to academic strengths and areas for growth, special education profiles, social/emotional considerations and knowledge of the student.

We want to thank you in advance for trusting our team in building classrooms that balance the needs of our students.  If there are extenuating circumstances that you would like us to consider for your child when class building, please send an email to [email protected] .  In the subject line of the email, please note “2022/2023 Consideration”.  We are asking that all communication be sent in by May 27th, 2021.   

Also, if you know that your child(ren) will NOT be at Westwood for the 2022/2023 school year due to movement out of our catchment area, please notify the office through the same email address above.  

Please note that we will not entertain requests for specific teachers.  It is also important to understand that all class placements are tentative until the end of September.
