School Reorganization 2023-24

Dear families,

Each fall, HWDSB reviews elementary student enrolment in schools, and reorganizes staffing if actual enrolment differs from spring projections. It is normal for student enrolment to fluctuate a little.

This year, the fall reorganization is more widespread due to the in-person/remote option for students, as well as the ongoing need to meet provincial class size requirements.  In addition, we have experienced an overall growth in elementary enrolment across the school board.

Specifically, at Viscount, the reorganization will mean:

• Creating an additional class for JK/SK students and a Grade 7 class.
• Our current Grade 7/8 class will change to a Grade 8 class.
• Our current Grade 6/7 class will change to a Grade 6 class.
• To adhere to provincial class size requirements, a number of students will be moving from one class to another.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Next week, individual letters will be given to those students who will be moving classes. All new classes will begin Friday, October 6, 2023.
