URGENT: Update regarding leaving school during nutrition break

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to inform you that due to a recent safety threat towards some of our students, as well as reports of unsafe and inappropriate behaviours, students will no longer be able to leave the school grounds for lunch during the second nutrition break. This decision was based on the safety of our students and the wellbeing of our school community. Students have been reminded on numerous occasions about safety measures when coming into contact with strangers, and also that when leaving school grounds, they must still adhere to all Viscount Montgomery rules, and represent Viscount in positive manner when out in the community.  We understand that this may be an inconvenience for some, and we apologize for any disruption this may cause, but we must ensure the safety of our students at all times and especially when off school grounds during nutrition breaks. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible, and we are confident that this will be beneficial in the long run. We would like to encourage all students to bring a lunch from home beginning after the March Break on Monday, March 20th, 2023.

Students will still be able to go home for lunch if necessary, but will require a daily note with the date and signature from their parent or guardian. No email or phone calls will be permitted. The note must be presented to their teacher and then forwarded to the office.

We thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

D. Fede (Principal)

G. Hoage (School Council Chair)
